I qualified as a children’s nurse in 1997 and immediately joined the liver unit at Birmingham Childrens Hospital. I have broadened my experience in other children’s nursing specialities but have always been passionate about hepatology care, transplantation and our small bowel transplant programme. I now have a total of 17 years’ experience within the unit and in my current role as specialist nurse I support patients and families with disease or transplant counselling, education and post discharge support via our nurse led helpline, Liver Direct. I have been involved in research projects, family days and AHP contribution at conferences.
